Canary Islands Chiffchaff is endemic to the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro). The subspecies P. c. exsul, endemic to Lanzarote, is extinct. This bird is very common and is found in many habitats, from sea level to high mountain scrub vegetation, at more than 2,000 m of altitude. It can be seen even in densely populated cities such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
