Adult bird in its breeding area. This shrike is quite common in the eastern islands of the Canaries (La Graciosa, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura), being present also on Alegranza islet (not rare), Gran Canaria (locally common) and Tenerife. In this last island is found in the southern half and in the central zone of high mountain scrub vegetation, at more than 2,000 m a.s.l., where it is colonizing new sites.
