De soort is in NL inderdaad zo zeldzaam geworden dat die op deze site past. :-(

Nice composition of images. How is the present situation of the European Turtle Dove in the Netherlands? In the Canary Islands, it seems clear that populations are going down in almost all the archipelago, but there are some areas in which the species is more common.

Hi Rubén, the situation is really bad... It used to be common throughout the country, but now there are only a few pockets where you have a better chance.

The latest breeding distribution map is already 10 years old, but the still decreasing trend is indicated till more recently here:

Dear Jan,

Many thanks for the details about the species in the Netherlands. Now, here some people are working with this bird, studying densities in different habitats and marking several individuals to study their movements, at least on Tenerife Island.
