In Duitsland is er geen onderscheid … daar vallen beiden onder Izabelklauwier zie hier. Ik doe vrijwel jaarlijks mee met de mystery-bird competitie en daar werd mijn Turkestaanse Klauwier fout gerekend … :-((

Natuurlijk is er in Duitsland net zo goed onderscheid, daar willen ze alleen niet over nadenken, haha!

In the Canary Islands, there is only one accepted record of Daurian Shrike, documented with photos and published in Dutch Birding some years ago.

@ René and Jan Hein,

although you are probably right in assuming that the German birding scene is (sometimes) a bit slow or behind, in this special case it is not quite true. Both isabellinus and phoenicuroides are on the list of species which should be submitted to the DAK already at the time of your writing and when this bird was photographed, see here or here.
